Every year, just before Christmas, Lyric presents its unique Madrigal Dinner, the Boar’s Head pageant. The choristers are dressed in mediaeval costumes, the hall is decked out with mediaeval banners, flags and other appropriate motifs. During the evening the audience is served wassail and a delicious four course meal by servers also dressed in mediaeval servant garb. The main course features roast pig, usually prepared on a spit over an open fire beforehand.

Interspersed between servings, the boar’s head ritual is re-enacted, amidst renditions of appropriate seasonal compositions by adult and children’s choirs and brass wind instrumentalists.

This is a very popular event and tickets are highly prized. This event is designed to raise money for charitable foundations such as the Surrey food bank.

2nd performance will be at 5:00 PM Saturday, December 12, 2009, at Bakerview Church at 2285 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford, BC
