Discover Dance series: Mascall Dance, May 27

The Dance Centre’s popular Discover Dance! noon series comes to a close with Homewerk, Mascall Dance’s innovative exploration of concepts of home and belonging. Choreographed by Jennifer Mascall, the work draws on stories about home collected from people around the world. Ideas of shelter, comfort and acceptance are split open by the dancers through high energy dance, storytelling and music, using deceptively simple cardboard props to create a series of rapidly transforming images. In this special edition of Homewerk, Jennifer Mascall will deconstruct the piece in all its aspects, showing the audience its inner workings: how dance plays with words and meaning, the architectural inspiration for the sets, and how an ambitious concept for a work evolved over time into a finished piece.
