On November 19th, 1858 Governor James Douglas read a proclamation in Fort Langley's Big House declaring the territory a British Colony. The Fort Langley Legacy Foundation presents a non-motorized Victorian Parade through the village of Fort Langley on November 21st to commemorate this event.
