Dodge and Burn
Dodge and burn
The In The House Festival is proud to premiere an unusual new dance piece. Called Burn & Dodge, the piece includes dancers and composers from three cities that span the continent. Supported by the Canada Council, this project takes dancers and composers from Vancouver, Winnipeg and New York City and plays a coast-to-coast game of the whispering game "Broken Telephone". Participants create the music and dance by sending photos and music excerpts to each other over email, and each person creates their own version of what they receive. Under the direction of Vancouver choreographer Melanie Kuxdorf, rehearsals are held over Skype, and just like "Broken Telephone", the original message gets distorted as it goes along. The Vancouver music was composed by Josh Wells and Amber Webber from the band Black Mountain, while local dancers Alana Gerecke and Catherine Andersen are among the performers. Date: May 5th, 2011 Time: Doors at 6:15 pm / Show starts at 7:00 pm Where: 595 E.Georgia street Tickets: 18$ adults / 13$ members + kids You can buy tickets on-line at http://www.inthehousefestival.com or make a reservation by emailing info@inthehousefestival.com or phoning 604-874-9325. |
