Website: http://sites.google.com/site/burnabyoutdoor/home
Date: 07-Nov Day: Sat Description: Black Mountain and Eagle Bluffs. At the Eagle Bluff you get a sweeping view from the Sunshine Coast, Vancouver Island and the Straight of Georgia. Total hiking distance is 15 km with an elevation gain of 1080 m. Contact: N. Sesto Phone: 604-430-1095 Date: 08-Nov Day: Sun Description: Crumpit Woods, Squamish. This is a new destination to me. Apparently there are a number of connecting trails and a couple of excellent viewpoints. We'll pick up a trail guide at the Squamish visitors centre and go exploring together. Contact: S.Darke Phone: 604-209-9798 Date: 14-Nov Day: Sat Description: Deeks Lake. From Horseshoe Bay. The trail is quite steep at the beginning. One hour in, you come to the old logging road with a gentle incline and then a steeper climb all the way to the lake. You get views of Howe Sound and water falls. Total elevation gain is 930 m with a hiking time of about 7 hours. Contact: N. Sesto Phone: 604-430-1095 Date: 15-Nov Day: Sun Description: Grey Rock in Deep Cove. Short 6km hike winding through the forest to Grey Rock with bluff overlooking Deep Cove, Belcarra and Indian Arm. Little elevation gain. Contact: M. MacKenzie Phone: 604-524-2457 Date: 21-Nov Day: Sat Description: Barnston Island. Walk around the island and enjoy the countryside. Bring carrots to feed animals. Contact: M. Yiu Phone: 778-863-0526 Date: 22-Nov Day: Sun Description: Eagle Bluffs. Let’s hike out to Eagle Bluffs (about five hours return) and hope for a good day because the views are terrific. We start from the downhill skiing area of Cypress Mountain. It may be one of the last opportunities before they close the area for the 2010 Olympics. Contact: J. Gill Phone: 604-291-6931 Date: 28-Nov Day: Sat Description: Mount Galiano. We will catch the 8:35am ferry from Tsawwassen arriving on Galiano at 9:30am. This is mostly a walk on quiet island back-roads, but with a "real" hike up (and down) trails leading to Mount Galiano at about 300 meters. From the top there are superb views of other islands scattered in the Gulf of Georgia. Total distance will be about 15km. We will probably stop at the Hummingbird Pub before returning to Tsawwassen on the 5:40pm ferry. Total ferry fare cost will be $20.15. Contact: D. Cater Phone: 604-341-2846 Date: 29-Nov Day: Sun Description: Dog Mountain. Easy snowshoeing to get your snowshoe legs back. In case there is no snow an easy hike to get a nice view over Vancouver.
